Kavukcuoglu’s operating role connects frontier-model development to humanoid action research, giving him power over technical priorities and partner interfaces that could make general AI useful across humanoid bodies while OEMs retain hardware and operational responsibility. Model training and multimodal reasoning can support action policies across bodies. Resource allocation, evaluations and partner interfaces determine whether laboratory gains become deployable robot skills.

The new remit includes sufficient influence over robotics priorities, and partnerships supply the embodiment data and validation that general models lack.

The role spans many competing AI products. Pichai controls higher-level allocation, OEMs control hardware, and impressive model demonstrations can remain expensive or brittle outside curated settings. Confidence: New operating remit is explicit, but resource allocation and robot-specific authority within the larger organisation remain partly undisclosed.
